fees/government funding

When your child becomes eligible for Government funding (in the term after they have their third birthday), up to 15 hours are provided free of charge.

You may be able to get up to 30 hours’ free childcare. If you are eligible for the extra hours, you sign up online to get a code to pass on to us. For details on eligibility for funding, please visit the following website:

Government funding is also available to two year olds in certain circumstances.

Session fees
For unfunded children and those accessing additional hours have been set for 2017/18 at:

3/4 year olds (unfunded hours)

Hourly rate £5.25
Three-hour sessions (9-12 and 12-3): £15.75

2 year olds

Hourly rate £5.75
Three-hour sessions (9-12 and 12-3): £17.25
Lunch club
£6.50 for 75 minute session and is available after a morning session. You will need to provide lunch and a drink.

If your child attends for a morning three-hour session receiving Government funding, lunch club is an optional extra and is not included in your child’s funded hours. If your child attends for an afternoon or a full day session, there is no additional charge for lunch club.

A voluntary contribution towards consumables is asked for at £15 per child, per term.

Invoices will be issued by the end of the first week of each new term (or within one week of your child starting at Pre-School, should they start part-way through a term). These fees MUST be paid within ONE CALENDAR MONTH of the issue date. We are happy to accept payment by online banking,  by cheque or by cash.

We accept payment in childcare vouchers if your employer offers these.   Childcare vouchers are a tax efficient way of paying for Pre-School sessions. Please contact the treasurer for more information.

How we can help:
It is very important that you speak to the manager as soon as possible  if you have difficulties with paying your fees.

We will always treat difficulties with payment sympathetically and in confidence – please talk to the manager as we may be able to help by  arranging payment by regular monthly or weekly amounts.

If any staged payment is to be requested, this must also be requested and arranged with the Manager and Treasurer within one calendar month of the invoice issue date. Failure to comply with these terms, may result in St Mary’s Pre-School having to take further action to recover unpaid fees, and may mean your child loses their place at Pre-School.

We work closely with local health visitors and charities to support families in particular financial need – do ask if this might apply to you.
