A Day at Pre-school

A Day at Pre-school

No two days are exactly alike as the children can choose their activities for the day.

At the beginning of the session the staff greet the parents and children at the door. The morning starts with free play, which helps the children settle. Group time follows, with discussion, number or letter games, after which the children concentrate on their chosen activities.

Activities are prepared, with differentiation built in to cater for varying ages and abilities. The activities cover all six areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. There are always plenty of opportunities for messy play, and running and climbing outdoors. Children are encouraged to participate in the adult led activities as well as being able to benefit from independent learning.

After a story, the children can select play activities indoor or outdoors.  They are able to help themselves  mid-morning snack of milk/water and fruit.

Finally there are quieter activities and songs before getting ready to go home.

Many children stay for lunch club and the older ones may stay for a full day as they prepare for primary school.
